Third Grade Historical Field Trip

For more than 30 years, the Foundation for Excellence has been helping educators make their innovative ideas to come to life and supporting students in District 202 schools

Third Grade Historical Field Trip

The Foundation for Excellence provides funds to cover the cost for each third grade student in District 202 to attend a local history field trip either in downtown Plainfield or at the Joliet Area Historical Museum.  By providing the total cost for student transportation and for entrance fees to the Joliet Area Historical Museum, the Foundation makes this field trip available to all third graders at no cost to the student.

Each spring, third grade students study what the region was like when settlers first came here in the early 1800’s.  At the end of the unit of study, students go on a field trip to downtown Plainfield or to the Joliet Area Historical Museum. Volunteers from the Plainfield Historical Society lead informative tours of Plainfield’s downtown area and reveal interesting facts about Will County’s oldest community.  Students who tour the museum in Joliet learn about the area’s founding families and historical events.

The Foundation for Excellence is honored to partner with District 202 and the Plainfield Historical Society to make this memorable and enriching field trip possible.
