APPLICATION FORM

The Chief John Eichelberger Public Safety Scholarship is given by the Plainfield Fire Department. Chief Eichelberger retired in 2015 after 40 years of dedicated service to the Department.

The Chief John Eichelberger Public Safety Scholarship will award $1,000 scholarships to four students from the Plainfield Fire Protection District.

Recipients will be chosen based on grades; financial need; and acceptance and proof of full time enrollment at an acceptable institution (see university/college criteria below).

Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the recipient at the recipient's Senior Honors Night ceremony.

Applicants Must:

  • Be a resident of The Plainfield Fire Protection District;

  • Plan to major in the Fire Service, Public Safety, Medical or Emergency Services at a fully accredited state or private university or college (preferably in Illinois);

  • Complete the Application below;

  • Submit a copy of current transcript through the first semester 2020-2021 school year;

  • Maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.5;

  • Must be graduating in the 2020-2021 school year, and starting college in the summer/fall of 2021;

  • Include a letter of reference from a teacher or administrator;

  • Write a personal statement of at least 500 words describing yourself, and your interest in the Fire Service, Public Safety, Medical or Emergency Services. Include your professional goals and a description of your financial needs.
