Mike Collins graduated from Plainfield High School in 1964. He earned an Associate’s Degree from Joliet Junior College. Mike served our country for four years in the United States Air Force. His career in law enforcement began in his hometown of Plainfield where he was a police officer for one year. He then joined the Illinois State Police and worked as a state trooper for 29 years. He received several honors during his years with the state police including the Congressional Medal of Merit honoring the heroism he displayed when he rescued a semi driver from a burning cab seconds before it exploded.
Mr. Collins was a Plainfield Fire Protection District Trustee for 12 years and served the community as a volunteer firefighter for 13 years. He was elected to the position of Plainfield
